Question answered and a recipe…

15 Aug

A question I get ALOT, “What is PB2?”  I post my meals and snacks on Facebook quite often (you probably find it annoying, but I don’t care) for the sole purpose of ideas for YOU. I know I get burned out on the same thing all the time and I like to see what other people eat. I like to jazz up my day with a new snack every once in a while, but a constant in my food journal is PB2. I put it in my oatmeal, my shakes, and dip my fruit in it. Still wondering what the heck I’m talking about? Here’s the definition straight from the website:

PB2 has the same consistency as full fat peanut butter with all of the natural roasted peanut flavor, but with nearly 85% less fat calories. PB2 is made with high quality peanuts that are slow-roasted to our specifications and pressed to remove the oil. All natural with no artificial flavors, sweeteners, or preservatives.

PB2 Powdered Peanut Butter is mixed with water to create a traditional peanut butter mixture. It also works and tastes wonderfully in recipes that call for the use of peanut butter.

Best part is one serving of PB2 is only 45 calories! 45! Your creamy peanut butter sitting in the pantry, well that’s a whopping 190! And I know you have more than a serving of that stuff. Right? I’ve been guilty of it too, don’t worry. So, you can see why I love this stuff so much. I received my shipment yesterday. I like to store it in a plastic air tight container right by my Shakeology so it’s ready to go. Maddox helped me…kind of.

They even make chocolate PB2. Yeah. Chocoloate. I jazzed (the word of the day in my head) up my oatmeal today too. Here’s a new recipe for you to try.

1/2 cup oats

1 cup almond milk

2 Tablespoons chocolate PB2

Mix it up. Heat it up. Eat it up.

Banana Bread Oatmeal

18 Jul

Did you see my post on Facebook this morning? My yummy Banana Bread Oatmeal? I made it ALL by myself and it turned out delicious!

1/2 cup oats (I used Bob’s Red Mill 5 Grain Rolled Hot Cereal)

1 cup Almond Milk

1 teaspoon Nutmeg (to taste)

2 teaspoon cinnamon (to taste)

1 tablespoon vanilla

Mix all ingredients except for banana in small pot and heat until oats are cooked through. When it is to the consistency you prefer take off heat. Pour in bowl and cut up a banana and place on top. Enjoy!

I ran this morning before work. After I run I ALWAYS have Shakeology. It’s important to replace lost minerals and nutrients. It also re-energizes and reduces muscle soreness. There are so many more reasons why I still drink this every day. I could go on and on. Want me to? Later? Ok.

Anyways, about an hour after I drink my shake I make my breakfast and it’s usually oatmeal. Peanut butter oatmeal is one of my favorites, but I decided I was in a banana bread mood. Hence, the new recipe.

About once or twice a week my husband and I do our own things for dinner. That’s when I make something I know I love and he doesn’t. Then I can eat it all! I found a zucchini (a huge zucchini) sitting in my garden today. I decided to chop it up and just roast it with a bunch of other root veggies like beets, carrots, and onions. I doubled the batch so I can I have left overs tomorrow. I made some quinoa to go along with it. They pair nicely.

Tomorrow is my Friday. Tyrell informed me that he hates when people say that. He’s just jealous. I’m getting excited for the weekend. It’s our class reunion (10 years). We had such a small class, only 13 of us, so it will be fun to see and visit with everyone. I better start looking for something to wear now…

Weigh your Grapes

12 Jul

I am all about my routines as you know. I had to slip away from my run this morning, which irks me. My hamstrings are still yelling at me. Not as bad as yesterday, but I didn’t feel like going for a slow, agonizing run. So, I slept in until a quarter to 6, which felt good I must say! When I miss a scheduled morning workout, I feel bad and my day seems to shift out of place. Then, the worst thing happened. I screwed up my peanut butter oatmeal. I have no idea what I did, but I screwed it up, and I had to make a new batch. Grrr!

Are you a slave to your food tracker, measuring cups and spoons, food scale? I am! And I am proud of it! I track my food with myfitnesspal. If you want to lose weight or monitor your nutrition this stuff is essential! Don’t eyeball your food, majority of the time you are going way over a serving size.

What else? Oh! Water! Do you drink enough? No? Why? You need lots of water. I hate cold water. I like it at room temp and I pretty much only drink it out of my trusty tumbler. Yeah, the same one too. My other tumbler just feels all

So happy when I have a package at the post office. Especially when it’s from Vitacost! Love this site! I order alot of my goodies from here. They have everything from cleaning products to chia seeds.

If you are interested in ordering, let me know. I can refer you and we will both get $10.00!

So, after writing this I feel all wimpy about not running. I am going to hit the foam roller and then run! Thanks for the push 🙂
