Today’s workout: TurboFire HIIT 15

I’m surprised I still have all of my hair. I am moving my site to a new host. And boy, it sure isn’t easy! If you have done this on your own (and I am learning as I go) you understand the hair pulling, the headaches, and the frustration. When the site is finally up and ready, it will be worth it right? RIGHT!?

Last week was my blog-iversary and I hosted a giveaway thanks to the lovely people at Larabar. Would you like to know if you won!? KELSEY!! If you are reading please email me your name and mailing address. Congratulations lady!!

So, what are your workout plans for the week? Here’s mine:

Thursday: Run (interval work)
Friday: Weights (upper body)
Saturday: 9 mi. run

*when I say weights I mix it up by doing P90X, Les Mills, or TurboFire upper, lower, sculpt, or tone. Whatever mood that strikes me!

*random* Have you ever tried wasabi peas? I told my husband it was like chewing on acid and then it turned into crap. So disgusting. Who would eat these!? Garbage!!

My guest post for Piper’s Run!

Jenny Likes Sports Too!

7 Nov

Meet Jenny! She loves to workout and stay fit! Do you need some motivation to get/stay fit? Read on…

Name: Jenny Maier AKA Chicks Like Sports Too

Blog address:

What’s your primary workout?

Lately, it’s been running, but if I had to choose one thing, it would be TRX workouts.

How long have you been working out?

For about fifteen years

How often do you work out?

I try to do 5 days a week, twice a day.

What’s your favorite outfit to Sweat Pink in?

My Lululemon crops and my Fit Approach Ambassador "sweat pink" tank, of course.  Mizuno sneakers.

What’s your favorite healthy snack and meal?

As a snack, I am obsessed with trail mix when I’m on the go, and Greek Yogurt with granola when I’m at work.  For a meal, I make a mean stuffed pepper with turkey meat.

If you could have one cheat day where nothing counted against you, what would you eat and do?

I feel like I have those days more than I should, but my dream cheat day would be to go back to the Rib Cook-off contest in Reno and eat BBQ, have a couple beers and listen to live music in 80 degree heat all day.

What is your biggest motivation to staying fit?

If I wasn’t fit, I wouldn’t be able to do many of the activities that I love, like skiing, rock climbing, hiking, or running races.  Being fit helps me stay active in other areas of my life and gets me away from my desk as much as possible.

Any advice for the beginners out there?

Make time.  Everyone is always busy, but if you make it a priority, you can make time to work out and live a healthy life.

What’s your favorite thing about blogging?

I feel like this comes with a caveat because I have taken a long hiatus from blogging since I’ve been paying more attention to my other social media options, but what I absolutely love about blogging is the feeling that you are connecting other people to each other through your personal experiences.  I like being personal in my blog because your readers get a better sense of who you are and can trust you more if you open up to them.

How do you hope to inspire people?

I feel like I’m always pushing myself and challenging myself when it comes to both fitness and personal growth.  I want people (especially younger women) to look at me and say, "if she can do it, so can I".  That would be the ultimate reward.

A new season-ready for something new.

23 Sep

It’s been a slow poke week. I took the week off from running and working out. I usually do this when I’m going to be starting something new. I went for a few walks, but that was about it. Nothing to crazy. You can view my workout log here. It’s time to get back at it though. I have new goals and a new program to help me get there. Les Mills Pump.

I’ve completed many Beachbody programs since I became a coach over a year and a half ago. I was excited to try it the minute it came out and I told myself, I have to wait until I’m done training for the 1/2 marathon. Yay! Now we can play! I got my package on Friday. Maddox was pretty excited. I put my barbell set together, printed off my schedule for the next 90 days, and printed my tracking sheets. I am set to go. All I need to do is decide if I’m going to start today or tomorrow. I need to review the schedule and tweak it a bit to incorporate my running. You only have to lift 3 times a week so it will be easy to do that.

I’m excited fall has begun. I love the cool, crisp fall air. It’s a great time to get outside and go for a walk or run. We’ve been walking every Monday and Wednesday at 7:00 and the weather has been so perfect. If you are from Hebron and would like to join us you can find more details here. It’s always nice to meet new faces and get out of the house for a bit!

So what are your fitness plans for the fall? Don’t stop moving because it’s getting chilly out! This is the perfect time to start a workout program that you can do at home. How many times have you told yourself you are going to lose weight come the new year? Why not get a head start now? Think how far you could be by then? Think how amazing you could look and feel by summer! I’m serious! This is the time to act. If you have been putting it off and putting it off, you just need to stop it. Stop talking about it, stop complaining, and just do it! What kind of workout program do you have lying around collecting dust? Do you need a fresh one? Get it. Once summer rolls around you will be in tip top shape. So, let’s have a chat. If you’re ready to change it up and get moving I’m here. You want to try the same program as me? Want to try a different one?

I like to form challenge groups for people who are starting off. I think it’s important to have a private group where you can feel free to ask questions and post your success. If this would be of interest to you, please let me know by commenting below or sending me a message through Facebook by Wednesday, September 26. By joining this challenge you will have the option to purchase a kickstart kit from me for $15 and this includes shipping. Are you ready?

Want me to yell at you?

21 Aug

Once or twice a week I like to throw in a good upper body (mostly arms and shoulders) workout. Tonight I decided to create a routine of my own. I liked it so much I did it twice. And you should too!

When I was finished I did some stretching and I was done for the day. Easy to fit this in because I did something I look forward to.

I do feel the need to admit something. I’ve been a slacker with my morning workouts. I’ve been having to fit them in in the afternoon/evening which I hate because I would much rather be hanging out with my boys (husband and son that is)! Granted they join me once in a while, but it’s not the same. I love working out in the morning. What the heck is wrong with me!?

Reasons to workout in the morning:

  • Wake up and rev up the metabolism.
  • I don’t have to try and fit it in throughout the day and risk missing it.
  • I feel great when I start the day off with some good sweat.
  • I never regret it.
  • It’s my alone time.
  • I don’t have to shower twice!

I need to cut this out and put it by my alarm clock! I’m challenging myself to get my @$$ out of bed, get downstairs, and workout. No more of this afternoon/evening crap. I want this done in the morning. Ok I’ll stop yelling at myself now. Need me to yell at you? I’ll do it. Just ask.
