Blog-iversary and a GIVEAWAY!!

1 Mar

Happy Anniversary to me! A year ago today I wrote my very first post. Did I think I would be doing this…still? No? Do you want me to stop? Maybe. I’ll stop when I run out of things to say. And if you ask anyone I know, I just don’t know how to shut up.

So, whether this is your first time reading my very well thought out words or your last, I thank you. I mean it. I really do. There are a billion bloggers better than me out there. But, you are here. Reading MY words. You must feel so much wiserer…

I’ll keep this short and sweet so you can go on with your lives. I just wanted you to know how much I appreciate you reading. It takes time to figure out what I’m trying to say. Trust me. I can barely make sense of myself. I love seeing strong traffic on a post. I love that YOU care about what I have to say. THANK YOU!

My gift to you: I’m doing a LÄRABAR giveaway. To enter, just comment below on how much you love me. No, just kidding. Just tell me what your favorite color is. Go crazy. And as usual…extra points for Facebooking, Tweeting, etc.

Love to you all!!

Naughty boy, a Bulu Box, and a Photo Dump

21 Dec

Is this the last day before the craziness begins. *sigh* Why yes it is. So, I am going to do a photo dump and show you my Bulu Box. Sound good?

It was a crazy day at my house. I have been waiting DAYS to get my Christmas cards in the mail. I even paid extra for “speedy” shipping. I sent my husband to the post office to see if they arrived. There was a package, but not my pictures. My Bulu Box came!

What did I get?
-Almased-a metabolism booster.
-FRS Healthy Energy Chews-
-Reserveage CocoaWell True Energy-
-Drinkwel-Cocktail lovers multivitamin.
-Immuno Viva Defend Energy-
-Crystal Essence Mineral Deodorant-

Awesome box! I have already chewed up some FRS. I plan on drinking the Immuno boost, I feel a bug trying to invade my body. That would be horrible timing.

After finding out that the USPS lost my Click Protein and my Christmas cards, my son decided to decorate our living room. How can I say this so I do not disgust you. He’s 3. He wears a diaper, but was not at the time of the “accident,” and he….was covered. So after hosing him down and bleaching everything he went on playing as if nothing had happened, while I’m considering getting a head start on that bloody caesar mix Tyrell bought. I opted to pig out on a giant bowl of cereal. What a kid! What a day! I ended the day with a nice run and a super hot bath. I was almost boiling, pretty sure.

Photo dump!

Self-explanatory right? A very sexy medal.

Christmas card from Jamie and Alyse, the founders of Fit Approach. Sweat Pink!

Oh, and I was accepted to be a Girls Gone Sporty Ambassador! Woo hoo!

25 Nov

So bummed that it’s Sunday and we have to go back to work tomorrow. Boo for work. So, did you stuff yourself like crazy this Thanksgiving? I did! This was my first big holiday as a vegetarian. Not a big deal for me. I just ate  a ton of other food!

I started the day off with a 5K run. My hip has been bugging me lately so it was a slower run. I had to stop and walk a few times. I felt clumsy so I knew I wasn’t running “right”. Something must be out of whack.

We made caprese skewers to bring over to my grandparents for Thanksgiving. Every skewer I made I ate a tomato. They were so good! I bought them the Sunday before Thanksgiving and I worried they would be all wrinkly by then. I read somewhere that you shouldn’t put them in the fridge, so I thought I would try it. I never have any room in my fridge anyway. Let me say, this tip is right on! Stop putting your tomatoes in the fridge people! We put balsamic vinegar in the middle of our skewers.

skewers So good! All you need is some fresh basil, fresh mozzarella, and some cherry tomatoes. Oh my heavens. My cousin Lee Ann and I scarfed these down. I think some other people might have had a chance at some too…if they were lucky.

So I ate a thousand tomatoes, four hundred cucumbers, 80 carrots, and 28 black olives. I got my veggie fill in! I also pigged out on Lee Ann’s pumpkin pie chex mix. I should have taken a picture, so good and addicting. When the actual dinner started I just grabbed a tablespoon of mashed potatoes (I don’t like them. I just felt I should have some), some corn, coleslaw….and I ate half of my mom’s veggie tree. It was a good day!

Now that we got all of that Thanksgiving business out of the way…Christmas decorations have been put up! I put out a lot more this year. Maddox is getting older and HOPEFULLY he’ll be careful. So far so good! Here’s our pretty tree.

tree Today  I was scheduled to do my last workout for month 2 with Les Mills. Well, I woke up, sat up, and twisted wrong. Now it feels like there’s a monster under my shoulder blade eating away. I could barely get my contacts in. Tyrell rubbed it for a while and I made him stop because I was going to cry like a baby. So, I spent some time on the foam roller. Seemed to help a little bit. Tyrell suggested I go take a bath. I thought this would be the perfect time to try out that detox bath on Pinterest. I never take a bath. Too many toys to clear out and this just doesn’t seem like the peaceful haven it once was.

I didn’t play basketball or anything. I took advantage of the quiet time and just did NOTHING. Life sure changes when you have kids! Your bathroom and bathtub that used to have all kinds of soaps, lotions, and candles around it no longer exists. Oh well, I wouldn’t change it for the world.

Kasey rocks!

Have you just dipped your toes in the workout pool and you need a push or some inspiration? Kasey has some great advice for the beginners out there.

PLUS, this girl created my site’s logo. She totally rocks! So show her some love ❤

What’s your primary workout? As I am just transitioning into the healthy lifestyle I am beginning with some low impact workouts. I do a lot of walking. I add this into my daily lifestyle by parking farther away or walking to places within a safe distance rather than driving. I also do a 11 move yoga routine that I LOVE and if nothing else gives me the motivation to live healthy. I’m going to start training for 5Ks soon.

How long have you been working out? Having been  a serious competitive swimmer growing up (14 years) I used to work out twice a day five days a week. After I graduated from college the first thing I stopped doing was working out. It’s been about six years since I was working out intensely. I’ve been adding my workouts back into my life for about a month now.

How often do you work out? I do my yoga routine every morning. This gives me a routine that makes a healthy life easier.

What’s your favorite outfit to Sweat Pink in? My gray old navy yoga pants, Saucony cross trainers, and of course my SPA sweat pink tank!

What’s your favorite healthy snack and meal? My favorite healthy snack is plain Greek yogurt, with a bit of cocoa powder and almonds. My favorite healthy meal is turkey burgers from Trader Joes (just turkey and rosemary) topped with hummus and avocado. Mmm.

If you could have one cheat day where nothing counted against you, what would you eat and do? Anything chocolate, and lots of it.

What is your biggest motivation to staying fit? My boyfriend is an avid surfer and he’s eager for me to be able to join him next summer. He loves teaching me and showing me all of the different boards. I am determined to join him in his greatest passion.

Any advice for the beginners out there? Don’t be overwhelmed by all of the information about healthy living. It’s enormous. Start with small changes that make sense in your life.

What’s your favorite thing about blogging? All of the connections I’ve made with some pretty fabulous people.

How do you hope to inspire people? I hope that people will see that you can reach any goal you just put your mind to. Even when your life may not be in the best spot. Healthy living is something we can always control and it’s a great way to remain confident.

Running, music, and stockings…oh my.

11 Nov

You guys, it’s time. Do you have your Christmas music on? I do. It’s snowing. It’s blowing. Turn it on.  Have yourself a merry little Christmas…sigh. I love this song. I want to decorate so bad right now, but I always wait until the day after Thanksgiving to do it. The Wizard of Oz is always on when I decorate too. It’s my tradition. I LOVE it!

Today was World Run Day. I’m not going to go run outside, because I’m not that crazy… yet. So, I ran a 5K race on the treadmill. My mom asked me if I won. Duh. The crowd went wild!

worldI did an ab workout before I ran this morning. Les Mills Hard Core Abs. Pretty much the only ab workout I’ve ever liked doing.  I’ve been running with no music lately, just watching Fox News. I like to be depressed when I run I guess…today I jazzed it up a bit and created a fun playlist (no I did not run to Silent Night):

  • Diamonds (Rihanna)
  • Bridge Burning (Foo Fighters)
  • How We Do (Rita Ora)
  • Arlandria (Foo Fighters)
  • Whistle (Flo Rida)
  • We Run the Night (Havana Brown)
  • Titanium (David Guetta & Sia)
  • Everybody Love Me (OneRepublic)
  • Back and Forth (Foo Fighters)

I used Slim Sanity’s treadmill workout:

I’m not a super fast runner, so the last round was a little tough, and I had to stop and walk for a bit until I reached 3.1. I would not have to walk at all if I was outside running, but the treadmill plays dirty tricks with my head. Treadmill running is tougher than running outside for me. Is it for you?

Oh, and since I ran my “race” all by lonesome I will not be showing you how incredibly gorgeous I look in the morning…here’s a compression stocking shot right before I started LMP.

compression I LOVE them. How about some argyle print stockings?

Found some strange things…

2 Nov

Glad it’s Friday? Me too. It doesn’t feel like it though. I am liking this mini winter storm we had. I like staying in where it’s warm and cozy.

I accomplished alot after work today. I was off at 2 and I went straight up to my fun office (not my big girl JOB office) and gutted it, dusted it, and reorganized. Four hours later, I was finished. I love my fun office when it’s clean and organized. It’s the small things in life right?

You sure find stupid things when you’re cleaning though. I found a box that contained the wrapping paper used by my first boyfriend to wrap my Christmas present, my fifth grade diary ( oh the drama! ), and my emergency tornado kit when I was little. When it would storm bad enough, my mom and dad would make me and my brother go sit in the fruit room. I figured that I should bring a kit, you know, you never know what could happen. My kit was an old tin box that belonged to my great grandpa Jake. Inside was a necklace from my Grandma and Grandpa, address labels with my Grandpa Krein’s address, and a match. You. Just. Never. Know.

Blogging has been extra fun this week because I started posting mini interviews (every Monday and Wednesday) with Sweat Pink Ambassadors. What is a Sweat Pink Ambassador? Go here and find out. I believe applications are being accepted again! If you love fitness, fun, and sisterhood all mixed together then this is for you! I am so happy I found this group. Love to all of my SPA sisters ❤ ! Check these two ladies out: Brianna and Carmel.

Workouts this week got off to a slow start. I still was up at 5, but I felt cruddy. I kept it low key with ab workouts and yoga. After transferring my illness to my husband, I feel great, and him…not so much. Sorry man.

Don’t forget to check out my Vegan recipe from last night! So freaking good!

Talk to me! What’s your favorite Vegan recipe? I would love to feature it on here if you would like to share!

Weekly recap!

If you missed it, Guidewell posted my story of how I lost over 80 pounds the right way. Check it out!

I also did a blog swap with a Sweat Pink Ambassador sister. You can read about her journey into running here and here’s a sneak peak of mine:

A book of excuses. Could you write one? Let’s narrow it down a little. A book of excuses to not workout and take care of yourself. I bet if we got a few of us together we could come up with a big one. Here are a few that have come across my mind…

Want to see more? Well, then you have to visit her page and read the rest!

Week one is almost finished for my Early Bird Challenge. What is this? You ask. This challenge was created for people who have trouble or want to start waking up early and fitting their workout in before anything else. We are doing very well. I’ve been up at 5 every morning this week. The accountability is working! Take a look at my workout log. It’s not too late to join. Just contact me on Facebook.

Wondering what to make for supper? Check this out. It was very yummy! Time to chat! What was the highlight of your week? Are you dressing up for Halloween this weekend?

Crazy apples and naughty cupcakes.

7 Oct

This past week has been CRAZY! I think this is the first time I’ve sat down all week without some kind of project calling my name.

I have been canning since last Saturday. Every day after work. Canning. I’m so sick of my kitchen. We have two apple trees in our backyard and after 4 years of living here, I decided to be a big girl and preserve these treasures. I made applesauce, apple juice, and apple pie filling.

We also had Maddox’s birthday party today. He turns 3 tomorrow! Yay! We had family over to help celebrate. I made homemade peanut butter cupcakes (I’m not putting up a picture of these. This site cannot hold the calories.) and apple bars. These cupcakes could do some real damage. Good think I only have one kid!

It is TIME to get back on track. It’s been such a crazy week. Tyrell’s been working alot and nothing feels right. I’m such a routine person. I feel like I’ve been thrown off a bit. My eating hasn’t been what it should be. I’ve been working out and following my schedule, but I still just don’t feel right. I’m glad all the craziness is over and tomorrow I can start a new week and get back to my old habits. Here’s to Monday!
