Dust off the cookies and win some GU!

11 Dec

My husband is evil. He made peanut butter cookies the other night. I have never been a huge fan of them, but these were different. These cookies were amazingly delicious. I ate a billion of them. Oops.

So, today I am dusting myself off (because I am full of cookie crumbs) and I am getting back on track. What better way to get back on track than to do another giveaway! Yay!

The nice people at GU Energy sent me a ton of gels to share with you! I love my GU gels. They are a must for me before I go for a run or any cardio workout. They give me that extra oomph.

GU Energy Gel provides athletes with a dose of 100 calories to deliver high-quality, easily-digested and long-lasting energy for athletes in every sport and at all levels. Everything inside each packet of GU is engineered to do one simple thing: provide your body with the essential nutrition it needs to keep going for miles and miles and hours and hours. It goes down easy, and it goes to work fast so you don’t have to slow down.

What’s in it?

Carbohydrates – GU provides athletes with a dose of 100 calories in the form of 70-80% maltodextrin and 30-20% fructose (The ratio depends upon the flavor.). Why the mix? It’s a complex carbohydrate, and studies have shown that some complex carbs are actually digested faster than simple sugars like table sugar and honey.
Amino Acid Blend – GU features a unique blend of amino acids to combat muscle fatigue, accelerate the conversion of carbohydrates into usable energy, and maintain mental focus.
Electrolytes – Sodium and potassium to replenish what is lost during strenuous activity.
Caffeine – Some GU flavors are caffeinated while others are not. We add caffeine for two reasons: It acts as a stimulant and it lowers the perceived effort.

How’s it different?

An optimal blend of carbohydrates, the proprietary GU amino blend, and a full serving of Vitamin C & E. Oh yeah, did we mention taste? GU Energy Gel has the time-tested consistency and delicious taste that athletes have come to expect from the original energy gel.

How do I use it?

GU should be consumed 15 minutes before and then every 45 minutes thereafter.

You want to try these, don’t ya? I will be giving away 2 sample kits. You know the drill. You need to comment below to be in the drawing. Tell me how you fuel your workouts! Want more chances to win? You have all day today to Tweet, Facebook, etc. this giveaway. Make sure you let me know by posting an additional comment for each shoutout. I will announce the winner tomorrow. You will have 48 hours to claim your goodies. Enjoy!

Good morning, was glad to see I’m not the only who has to have their baked goods once in a while! I decided I’m not baking for Christmas, just don’t need all that good stuff around the house. I need to get on the treadmill today so I’m doing my usual check my emails and get myself mentally ready for it. Can’t say I do any specific fueling for my workout, I just make sure I eat breakfast and then wait a little while before I start the workout. Have a great day!

Would love to try the GU. I am bad I don’t fuel my workouts partly because I am not sure what to try or afraid to spend a lot of money on something I won’t like. I know it would greatly help my performance to property fuel before during and after.

I use Gus – love the chocolate and mint chocolate ones. I haven’t tried a lot of the other flavors yet though.
